player. Pick Analysis. Russell Okung. Carolina Panthers. 2. 87. Scouting Report. OT

Okung flirted with retirement early in the season and struggled with injuries when he was available, and yet was a key figure in a much-improved Carolina offensive line. He and Taylor Moton served as one of the best pairs of tackles in the NFC last season.

While Okung might not be the Pro Bowl tackle that he was in Seattle, he remains a rock-solid tackle with versatility that is still worthy of a starting spot in the NFL. While the interior of Tennessee’s offensive line is solid, the tackle spot is worthy of an upgrade on either side.

Taylor Lewan is one of the best tackles in football, but he is a major injury risk after sitting out a huge chunk of the 2020 season. While the Titans used a first-round pick on Isaiah Wilson with the expectation that he would eventually either succeed Lewan on the left or start right away on the right, his behavior has the Titans concerned about his status both in the short and long term. If Dennis Kelly isn’t cutting it in Tennessee, they should consider signing Okung.

Okung has played just 13 games in the last two years, and he has only played in 16 games once in his career. Despite the injury problems, Okung remains a worthwhile addition as both a high-end backup and spot starter that can help Tennessee paper over the cracks on the right side of the line.
