The New Orleans Saints head coach received the ultimate Nickelodeon treatment Sunday night.

For anyone who didn’t know, the New Orleans Saints are good at football. How good are they? If not for a Mitchell Trubisky touchdown as time expired, the Chicago Bears would have only scored a field goal.

With a 21-9 victory at home, the Saints will move on in the Divisional Round. It wasn’t close as Drew Brees is now a step closer towards reaching the Super Bowl one final time. On top of all that, fans of the Bayou survive another week of being screwed out of a Super Bowl due to officiating.

In partnership with Nickelodeon, the Saints perhaps gained a few new fans along the way. As players would score, the hit children’s channel would show slime blasters douse the players in a liquid green delight for a job well done.

While the players were covered in animated slime, that wasn’t the case for Saints coach Sean Payton. Nickelodeon gave him some special treatment before he was allowed to leave the facility.

New Orleans’ offense slimed Bears’ defensive troubles

New Orleans’ offense didn’t exactly light it up the Superdome, but they capitalized in the moments when needed. Brees finished 28-of-39 passing for 265 yards and two scores Alvin Kamara tallied 99 yards on the ground and gave the Saints the sealing victory with a three-year touchdown.

Trubisky and the Bears’ offense never found a rhythm. Then again, the team was without their vertical threat in Darnell Mooney and saw slot receiver Anthony Miller ejected in the third quarter. Trusbisky finished with 199 yards and a touchdown. The Bears offense tallied 11 total first downs.

New Orleans showed how dangerous their defense can be. Meanwhile, the offense has all three stars back in the lineup for the first time since Week 1. Moving forward against Tom Brady, the Saints could only get better over time.

Slime is found everywhere in the swamps of New Orleans. It only makes sense for Payton to embrace the culture.
