NFL free agency rumors: 3 free agents the Rams should target this offseason
Hill won’t be the only name potentially leaving the Rams’ defense this offseason. Leonard Floyd rebounded as a pass rusher and showed his adaptability in coverage. Johnson will be another name to watch for after a lost season.
The fourth-year safety missed most of the 2019 campaign with a shoulder injury. He rebounded in a contract year with 108 total tackles and eight pass deflections in coverage. Overall, he played quite well in deep coverage in zone sets.
The Rams need to at least make an offer to keep him this offseason. When healthy, Johnson excels as one of the top names at his position. His versatility allows him to play all over the field and build his status as both a run and pass.
To make room for Johnson, Los Angeles will need to trim the fat on expiring contracts. It could be the only move the team makes this offseason, but it will be worth it. In the NFC West, the passing attack is dangerous. Johnson eases concerns deep downfield.
