Sean Payton copies Matt Nagy on Jameis Winston trick-play touchdown (Video)

Sean Payton stole Matt Nagy’s trick-play concept and made it work with Jameis Winston.
When Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy tried to run a trick play on Sean Payton‘s New Orleans Saints with Mitchell Trubisky throwing the ball deep downfield to Javon Wims last weekend, he definitely took notice.
Though Wims was unable to haul in that beautiful throw from Trubisky, Payton saw the brilliance in the design, so much so that he used it the very next week vs. the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. To make the play even pettier, he put in backup Jameis Winston to sling it to Tre’Quan Smith for the go-ahead touchdown. Somewhere, Nagy is spiking his Bears visor to the turf like Steve Spurrier.
This touchdown was so incredibly petty, we have to be impressed by it
If the Saints defeat the Buccaneers in the NFC Divisional Round game, they will advance to the NFC Championship game to face the top-seeded Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field. While the Saints only have one road playoff victory in their 50-year-plus football history, beating the Buccaneers for a third time this season could give them the moment to go beat the Packers.
The Saints have won the NFC South four years in a row, but have yet to reach the Super Bowl with this group. All three playoff exits the last three seasons have been excruciatingly painful for Who Dat Nation. However, they do have the balanced roster necessary to help future Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Drew Brees ride off into the sunset as a two-time Super Bowl champion.
Maybe this perfectly executed trick play will be the reason the Saints advance to the title bout?
