The New York Jets traded Jamal Adams to get him away from Adam Gase. Now, Gase could be following him to Seattle.

When Jamal Adams was traded from the New York Jets, he wanted to head to a contender. Granted, the Seattle Seahawks were eliminated in the Wild Card Round this postseason, but the future still is mighty bright.

That is, it could be should the team stay away from one name on the market.

According to multiple reports, the Seahawks have reached out to former Jets head coach Adam Gase for the current opening of offensive coordinator. The team fired Brian Schottenheimer following the 30-20 loss to the Los Angeles Rams at home.

For Adams, this would not be an open reunion between him and his former coach at gang green. Adams openly has spoken out against Gase and his coaching style in the past. And following a 9-23 run in two seasons with the Jets, the franchise had seen enough to cut ties before it was too late.

Ultimately, a move like this could put Adams’ future in Seattle in jeopardy.

A Gase hiring would lead to more drama

Gase lives off the mantra of being an offensive innovator for the Denver Broncos. Was that him or was it more so Peyton Manning? Since leaving Denver, his best offense came in 2016 during his first season with the Miami Dolphins.

They ranked 17th in total efficiency. Since then, 28th, 26th, 31st and 32nd have been the final results since 2017. Not to mention, the second Ryan Tannehill got away from Gase, his future became bright with the Tennessee Titans.

Will the same happen now that Sam Darnold is free?

Players openly disliked Gase in New York, but Adams was vocal about it to multiple names in the media. Now, Pete Carroll will have to ask himself if bringing in Gase would be the right move.

Despite the fireworks that would emerge with Gase being named the OC for the 12th Man, John Schneider might have to intervene. Trading away two first-round picks won’t be seen as a rental option, meaning Adams will hopefully remain in Seattle for the better part of his career.

If Gase is on staff, that plan will change from Adams’ camp without a doubt.
