Scouting Report. NFC North. . Detroit Lions. Pick Analysis. 1. player. 50

The Lions are starting fresh with a new general manager (Brad Holmes), and a widely reported favorite to be their new head coach in Dan Campbell. Assuming he’s hired Campbell is coming from the Saints, where he was associate head coach/tight ends coach for the last five seasons.

Ingram was of course a Saints’ running back during Campbell’s first three seasons there, and the Lions could use someone to pair with De’Andre Swift. Adrian Peterson will probably not be back, and Kerryon Johnson was phased out this year (52 carries in 16 games). Apart from a role as a veteran mentor for Swift and any production he’d offer, Ingram can and presumably would vouch for Campbell in the locker room.

The Lions are trying to change their culture, after the stains Matt Patricia’s version of “The Patriot Way” left behind. New people in the front-facing organizational leadership roles is obviously a big step, but players that come in with the right attitude and mindset will be important too. Ingram fits that bill, and it can also be assumed Campbell would want him in Detroit.
