On Wednesday, Kamala Harris was sworn in as the first female and first person of color to serve as Vice President of the United States. Steph Curry and the Warriors honored the moment.

Just before noon eastern time on Wednesday, Kamala Harris made history by taking her oath of office. She broke several ceilings, becoming the first woman, Asian-American and person of color to hold the office of Vice President of the United States. Harris previously served as a Senator from California, before that holding the office of the state attorney general. Her California roots are deep and she was born in Oakland.

Before their game against the San Antonio Spurs, the Warriors and Stephen Curry honored her incredible achievements with a custom jersey.

The video was played on the jumbotron and during the game’s broadcast (and clearly recorded earlier as Kamala was a little bit busy last night). The number 49 on the jersey represents the fact that Harris will be the 49th Vice President of the United States.

Steph Curry and the Warriors weren’t done showing love to Kamala Harris

The Warriors went ahead and continued the celebration with a 22-point drubbing of the Spurs, with Curry leading the way. He finished the game with 26 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists. The win extended a hot streak for the Warriors who have won six of their last nine games and climbed into a tie with the Portland Trail Blazers for the No. 5 position in the Western Conference standings.

After the game, Curry also tweeted his excitement about Harris and her groundbreaking achievement.

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr was particularly vocal in denouncing Donald Trump throughout his presidential term and the team famously bucked tradition and refused to visit the White House after their title in 2017.
