The official Twitter account of the Kansas City Chiefs thinks Eric Bieniemy deserves a head coaching job, even if it’ll take him away.

Most teams out there are wringing their hands hoping their coveted assistant coach doesn’t get pulled away to another franchise.

Not the Kansas City Chiefs.

In the middle of the Chiefs’ rout of the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship Game, the official team’s Twitter account advocated for offensive coordinator Eric Bienemy to get a head coaching job.

John Legend, the singer, got it started with his call for Bienemy to be hired, but it’s not often you see a team jump in like that.

After all, if Bieniemy does get the head coaching position he wants, he’d leave Kansas City weaker on the coaching staff.

Eric Bieniemy deserves a head coaching opportunity and the Chiefs know it

Bienemy has been the subject of much debate since the coaching circus for 2021 started. Despite interviewing for multiple jobs, the Andy Reid disciple hasn’t been given a promotion.

The fact that the Texans didn’t initially request an interview for their open position apparently sparked frustration from quarterback Deshaun Watson.

Now Bienemy is one of the potential finalists for that job. He just needs someone to be willing to take a chance on him.

With the Chiefs winning the AFC Championship, the Texans will also have to be willing to wait until after the Super Bowl to install him.

That’s a relatively minor hurdle to pick up a coach who has been part of Kansas City’s immense offensive success since 2018. Even if he’s not the one calling the plays, he has put together one of the most dynamic offenses in the NFL to get the most out of each of the talented weapons in the arsenal. Before that, he was the running backs coach for the Chiefs.

John Legend knows it’s time for Bienemy. Patrick Mahomes knows it. And the Chiefs organization knows it too.
