Eagles rumors: Ian Rapoport says Carson Wentz is still ‘very tradable’
Per NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Carson Wentz could generate plenty of interest if the Eagles decide to trade him.
Where will Carson Wentz end up playing next season? That’s a question NFL fans across the country can’t wait to find out. While Wentz is still in the middle of his massive contract with the Philadelphia Eagles, rumors have swirled that he’s ready to request a trade if he’s not the team’s starter.
Should Philadelphia end up deciding to move Wentz, NFL insider Ian Rapoport is reporting that the signal-caller would be “very tradable” and that you can bet that multiple teams would be ready to try and land him.
Carson Wentz very well could end up getting trade by the Philadelphia Eagles
Wentz’s 2020 campaign sure was one to forget, as he finished the season with only 16 touchdowns and a terrible 15 interceptions. That opened the door for Doug Pederson to bench Wentz and start second-round pick Jalen Hurts.
Hurts impressed at times and really got the offense going. Because of this, fans have been calling for Hurts to be the starter moving forward. At the same time, Wentz has also reportedly told the front office that he doesn’t want to be a backup. Wentz strongly believes he has what it takes to lead a team to a successful season, but he won’t accept riding the pine.
Philadelphia sure is in an interesting position this spring. Should they trade Wentz, Rapoport is saying several teams will be ready to make an offer. If they keep him in town, they’ll hope to see if new head coach Nick Sirianni can help Wentz get back to his old form and put up stats you’d expect from a first-round pick. Hopefully, we’ll find out more on Wentz’s future sooner than later.
