Buccaneers radio call on Tom Brady’s Super Bowl 55 triumph is pure bliss
The Buccaneers radio call when the team inched toward their second Super Bowl in franchise history is pure bliss.
In a Super Bowl that just about everyone thought was going to be incredible and absolutely competitive, it was absolutely one-sided. But in that one-sided victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 55, quarterback Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers furthered their NFL legacies.
Brady now wins his seventh Super Bowl title, more than the Pittsburgh Steelers and New England Patriots each hold. In addition, the Bucs, in addition to becoming the first to have a true home game in the Super Bowl, consequently become the first NFL team to win a Super Bowl on home turf.
Hear Gene Deckerhoff go crazy as the Bucs pile on the scores
Just as he did with their first Super Bowl title in the 2002 NFL season, Gene Deckerhoff, the legendary radio voice of the Bucs, was on hand to make the call of Tampa Bay officially clinching the Super Bowl title.
Listen to the calls of Brady’s three touchdown passes in the first half — two to Rob Gronkowski and one to Antonio Brown. As the score continues to increase, it sounds like Deckerhoff knows Tampa Bay’s win is more and more inevitable.
The affair was a complete thwarting of the Kansas City offense by Buccaneers defensive coordinator Todd Bowles and his crew.
Per ESPN Stats and Info (via Mina Kimes), Mahomes was pressured on 29 out of 56 dropbacks, the most of any quarterback in Super Bowl history. Brady, who won his fifth Super Bowl MVP, meanwhile, was pressured on four out of 30, the fewest out of his 10 Super Bowl appearances.
The Chiefs didn’t even score a touchdown in this game. This is how dominant the Buccaneers were.
