David Montgomery posted a cryptic post on Twitter making it seem like he was traded, but the running back has cleared things up.

Chicago Bears fans nearly went into panic mode on Wednesday afternoon. That’s because star running back David Montgomery took to Twitter and posted a message that really made it seem like he had been traded by the team. This couldn’t be!

Well, as it turns out, it’s not. Montgomery ended up deleting his original tweet after Bears fans everywhere lost their minds. He’s since cleared things up with a new post and we think Chicago supporters everywhere are going to like it.

Star Bears running back has made it clear he’s hoping to stay in Chicago for a long time

In less than an hour, Bears fans have gone from thinking that Montgomery has been traded, to him letting everyone know he’s not going anywhere and he couldn’t be happier playing in The Windy City. What a whirlwind that was.

Had Montgomery actually been traded, there may have been protests outside Soldier Field. When healthy, Montgomery has looked like one of the top running backs in the NFC. This past season, he rushed for 1,080 yards in 15 games with eight touchdowns. Through the air, he caught 54 balls for 438 yards and two scores.

Looking ahead to next season, Montgomery will of course have a big role in the offense for Matt Nagy. Who he receives carries/passes, however, is still up in the air right now.

Trade rumors continue to swirl staying that the Bears could make a move to land Carson Wentz from the Philadelphia Eagles. Should that end up happening, we could see Chicago’s offense get a bit more electric next year. That of course will be great news for Montgomery.
