The Chicago Bears are running out of patience with the Philadelphia Eagles on a possible trade for quarterback Carson Wentz.

The clock is ticking on if the Philadelphia Eagles are going to trade quarterback Carson Wentz or not. The Chicago Bears clearly want him, but are growing frustrated with how much the Eagles are overvaluing their former franchise quarterback. This is why a trade has not happened yet.

According to Mike Kaye of NJ.com, the Eagles do not want to give up Wentz for anything less than a Matthew Stafford haul. The trade package the Detroit Lions received for Stafford was so large because of Jared Goff’s albatross contract coming the other way. The other team seriously vying for Wentz is the Indianapolis Colts, but they want another player to come with Wentz in a trade.

The Bears do not need to bid against themselves to land Carson Wentz

The reason the Bears and Colts are the two likeliest suitors for Wentz are that those two organizations employ former Eagles offensive coaches. Colts head coach Frank Reich was Wentz’s offensive coordinator in Philadelphia in 2017. Bears quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo was on the same Eagles staff that won Super Bowl 52 over the New England Patriots in that magical season.

While the Colts may be able to put together a more lucrative trade package, the Bears are the most desperate of the two teams for a quarterback. So this is why Bears general manager Ryan Pace needs to operate with pragmatism and not give in to the Eagles’ over-the-top demands. Though they could get him, there are plenty of other quarterbacks worth kicking the tires over.

The Bears may be growing impatient, but now is not the time to be reckless and impulsive.
