Round 4

Texas. Pick Analysis. S. Caden Sterns. 97. player. Scouting Report. 52

After only intercepting 12 passes as a team last season, led by three from a linebacker (Joe Schobert), the Jaguars could use some reinforcements in the secondary. Sterns opted out of the rest of the Longhorns’ season in early December, but he had 52 total tackles in seven games along with one interception, three pass breakups and 1.5 tackles for loss.

Sterns gets high marks for his versatility in coverage, and he was a finalist for the Jim Thorpe award as a true freshman in 2018 before a knee injury derailed him in 2019. It’s worth wondering if he might become a big corner at the next level (6-foot-1, 207 pounds), but regardless Jacksonville swoops in on some value here.

52. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. WR. Western Michigan. D'Wayne Eskridge. 121. player

Eskridge had a nice final season at Western Michigan, averaging 23.3 yards per catch (33 catches for 768 yards) with eight touchdowns. He also topped 20 yards per catch in 2018, before an injury-shortened 2019 that also saw him move to cornerback.

Eskridge added kick returns to his repertoire last season, averaging 27.5 yards per return with a touchdown. He is small (5-foot-9, 190 pounds), but his versatility and big play ability can be put to good use with Meyer’s influence on the Jaguars’ offense. In a pinch, he could probably play some corner too.
