Mac Jones 2021 NFL Draft landing spot No. 2: Washington Football Team

That the Washington Football Team was able to make the playoffs as the winners of the NFC East this past year despite a revolving door at quarterback is remarkable. At various points throughout the year, the franchise started Dwayne Haskins, Kyle Allen, Alex Smith and Taylor Heinicke under center. Unfortunately, none of those players offer any type of long-term security for the Football Team at the position, even if they did re-sign Heinicke.

It would be interesting to then see Mac Jones enter the fray. He would essentially take up the mantle that Haskins was supposed to prior to his untimely release, even if they’re immensely different prospects. But Jones would fit into the cultural restructuring in Washington perfectly while adding new blood and optimism to the quarterback room for the future.

Mac Jones 2021 NFL Draft landing spot No. 1: New Orleans Saints

Much like the Steelers, the New Orleans Saints have been aware that the Drew Brees was heading out of the league via retirement sooner rather than later. Thus, many called for the franchise to have a plan ready to replace him. As of now, though, there is no certain path to take.

Their two in-house options are likely to be Taysom Hill and Jameis Winston and there have been some indications that the latter is their preferred option to take over for Brees. Having said that, it’s hard to imagine they’re fully confident in either option for the long haul.

Jones could inspire that confidence while the Saints would also have a stopgap option in place to let the rookie develop for a season. Pairing him with Sean Payton would undoubtedly set him up for success and give the Alabama football product a tremendous chance to thrive.
