2. Signing Joc Pederson

Joc Pederson was essentially pushed out of Los Angeles because of all the stars in that outfield. Now he gets a shot to shine in Chicago.

The Cubs were also able to land Pederson for cheap on a one-year, $7 million deal. That is a bargain for a player who has posted a WAR of 2.0 or better in four of his seven seasons. The left-handed outfielder had 36 home runs in 2019 before beginning to lose playing time in 2020.

One of the most exciting things about Pederson is all his postseason experience. He has 151 career postseason at-bats at the age of 28. That is rare to find and fans should also note his 1.041 OPS in the World Series.

Pederson can perform when it matters most and steps in for the departed Kyle Schwarber. Moving on from Schwarber and getting a long-term outfield option in Pederson would be quite the win for that front office as the core can begin to change without totally tearing down the roster.
