1. Not rushing into a Kris Bryant trade

The Cubs could have easily taken the first good offer for Kris Bryant and traded him away. Instead, they have remained patient knowing they still have leverage in the situation.

No one is quite sure what the plans are with Bryant. New general manager Jed Hoyer said trade rumors surrounding the New York Mets and Bryant are false. So does that mean he isn’t going to be traded this year? Or just to the Mets right now?

There is still a slim, but not likely, possibility the Cubs hold on to Bryant and try to win one more World Series in 2021. That would be a shock, but not making a move so far means it cannot be ruled out.

The Cubs have clearly not gotten an offer that blows them away. Waiting until the season begins could mean teams get more desperate and decide to throw in that extra top prospect to land Bryant and chase a championship. However, that could backfire against the Cubs as well.

The positive here is the Cubs not rushing. Making a bad deal for Bryant could crush team morale and make it seem like winning is not the top priority. At least now the team can begin Spring Training with higher hopes. Bryant will still be a distraction, but the entire team can even rally around it and just go out and play care-free.
