Georgia. 42. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Cornerback. Tyson Campbell. player. 31

The Giants could easily use their first round pick to address their need at corner, but the odds favor them circling back to fill it in Round 2. Campbell doesn’t have the polish of some of his peers that will go earlier in the round, but his combination of size and athleticism will intrigue the Giants’ coaching staff.

At 6-foot-2, Campbell has more than enough size to hold up as a boundary corner in the NFL.. He also showed above-average quickness and decent speed during his collegiate career at Georgia.

The one worrying thing about Campbell’s film is that he doesn’t make the number of plays you’d expect from a player with his physical gifts. It might take him a while to get used to life against professional receivers. He’s not a guy the Giants should draft with the expectations that he’ll be a high-level starter when Week 1 rolls around.

Instead, New York needs to select him with the understanding that he needs time and coaching to reach his full potential. If the franchise is willing to put in the work, they could come out of Round 2 with an above-average starting corner by the end of the year. Taking Campbell is a risk, but it’s one with enough upside for New York to gamble on.
