1. Carolina Panthers

The Panthers have stretched past being dark horse suitor for Deshaun Watson, as it’s clear they want to move away from Teddy Bridgewater after one season as their starting quarterback. Before the season was even over, via Alaina Getzenberg of the Charlotte Observer, here’s what owner David Tepper said about the quarterback position.

“It’s an ongoing process and it’s a question of who can be that guy that can help you win. That’s the most important position on the field. … Unless you have that guy for sure that gets you to playoffs and Super Bowls, you have to keep reevaluating that because that’s the only thing that matters is Super Bowls. And until you have that guy, you’re evaluating, evaluating, evaluating every year.”

And there’s more. In a piece further advancing the Panthers as a suitor for Watson, Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports recently reported Tepper wants to make a significant push to win and is over the idea of a “game-manager” quarterback. That’s the kindest label someone can put on Bridgewater.

Before becoming the Panthers’ owner in 2018, Tepper (a Pittsburgh native) was a minority owner of the Steelers for nearly nine years. So he may still have some relationship/friendship with Roethlisberger, if they had one in the first place. At the very least, Tepper may put in a strong word for signing Roethlisberger if the Steelers did cut him. As the Panthers look to be a player in the quarterback market, signing Roethlisberger and drafting his eventual successor might be the ultimate direction this offseason.
