Pick Analysis. Western Conference. Los Angeles Lakers. 1.. player. 20. Scouting Report. Pacific

As soon as the reports on Cousins impending departure from Houston dropped, the Los Angeles Lakers were instantly linked. But the speculative link became legitimate once Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer reported that the Lakers are a team expected to pursue Cousins.

Cousins was a member of the Lakers last season, but never got the chance to play for the team as he tore his ACL prior to training camp. Even though he was waived by the Lakers to sign Markieff Morris, he will be given a championship ring. But Cousins could get a chance to win the NBA title with the Lakers this year.

The Lakers have an obvious need for a big man as of this writing. Star forward Anthony Davis suffered a right calf strain last week, and was initially expected to miss between two-to-three weeks. The timetable did, however, increase to four weeks on Friday.

Los Angeles are in a position where they could run it back as NBA champions. However, the dominance of the first-place Utah Jazz and the crosstown Clippers pose as serious threats to the Lakers’ repeat chances. Taking that into consideration, the Lakers need to add a star presence to their depth chart with Davis out for the foreseeable future. Why not give Cousins another chance?
