Green Bay Packers mock draft – Second Round

Scouting Report. OT. Alabama. Alex Leatherwood. 62. player. 49. Pick Analysis

One of the big issues for the Packers in the NFC Championship Game was a poor performance from the offensive line. The absence of David Bakhtiari from a torn ACL was a killer and the unit could take another hit this offseason if center Corey Linsley leaves in free agency.

Finding an offensive line prospect who can cover a couple of different positions would be a big help. There is a guy who fits that mold in the second round in Leatherwood, who has been a durable starter for the Crimson Tide.

Leatherwood has started at both guard and tackle, but his best fit as a pro could be at guard. This could work out well since the Packers could slot Leatherwood at left guard and kick Elgton Jenkins inside to center, where he played as a collegian, if Linsley leaves in free agency.

Left tackle is probably a stretch for Leatherwood as a pro but he could also be a decent option on the right side to serve as an eventual replacement for Rick Wagner. Either way, landing a versatile lineman like Leatherwood would be a big help for Aaron Rodgers.
