2021 NFL Draft: Green Bay Packers 7-round mock
The Green Bay Packers have to make some key decisions in the NFL Draft.
Few teams were more disappointed at the end of their 2020 season than the Green Bay Packers. Questionable coaching by Matt LaFleur cost the Packers a chance to tie up the NFC Championship Game, sending Green Bay home one game short of the Super Bowl for a second straight year.
The NFL Draft will be critical for Green Bay, which has made a habit of using the draft to fill various needs in the offseason. Let’s take a look at how the Packers can use their seven picks to address various needs, beginning with their first-round pick, which is no. 29 overall.
Green Bay Packers mock draft – First Round
Kevin King is set to become a free agent this offseason and a weak market for corners could result in him landing a contract that is more expensive than Green Bay would want to pay him. Fortunately, there is good corner depth in the draft and the Packers can land a suitable replacement in Horn.
A 6-foot-1 corner out of South Carolina, Horn has the length and physicality to play effective man coverage against outside receivers. There are questions about Horn’s tackling, which prevents him from being towards the absolute top of the class, but there is plenty to work with here for Green Bay.
It is also worth mentioning that Horn is the son of former Saints’ wide receiver Joe Horn, so there is a solid family history of production in the NFL. That is something worth betting on as we witnessed with Antoine Winfield Jr in Tampa Bay this season.
