Green Bay Packers mock draft – Third Round

Pick Analysis. DT. 92. 49. Scouting Report. UCLA. Osa Odighizuwa. player

An underrated need for the Green Bay defense is at defensive tackle. New defensive coordinator Joe Barry’s most recent experience was with the Los Angeles Rams, who ran a versatile scheme that relied on generating pressure with the defensive line.

With multiple looks expected, the Packers could use a defensive lineman who is capable of both lining up inside in a 4-3 scheme or kicking outside in a 3-4. The best fit at this point in the draft is Odighizuwa, who has some elite physical traits that can make him a terror for opposing offensive linemen.

Odighizuwa’s tools are betrayed a bit by his slightly smaller size compared to the linemen he will face off against, which will make coaching a key to his development. If Barry and his assistants can teach Odighizuwa better techniques to use his frame more efficiently he could become a productive NFL player.

The Packers would likely have Odighizuwa be a sub-package player at the start of the season with a chance to earn more regular reps as the year progresses. There is a solid floor here as well but the ceiling for Odighizuwa could make this pick a steal in the third round.
