2021 NFL Mock Draft: Kyle Pitts lands in the top-5 of the first round
By Brad Weiss
After selecting their franchise quarterback No. 1 overall, the Jacksonville Jaguars get him some protection here at pick No. 25, the one they got by trading away Jalen Ramsey to the Los Angeles Rams. With this pick, they add the versatile Alex Leatherwood, a strong and capable blocker who could start at left tackle right away.
The No. 26 pick belongs to the Cleveland Browns, a team that was one of the better stories in the NFL this past season, making it to the Divisional Round. They still lack playmakers at linebacker, and they get one here, bringing in Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah from Notre Dame, a great coverage backer who is also an elite tackler.
The Baltimore Ravens could be in the market for a wide receiver here at pick No. 27, as it would be wise to bring in more talent on the outside for elite quarterback Lamar Jackson. However, they also need help along the edge on defense, and in Zaven Collins from Tulsa, they get a hybrid player who can play upfront, or even outside linebacker at the next level.
The New Orleans Saints still do not know if Drew Brees is actually going to retire, as there have been some rumblings that he may want to come back for another go-around in New Orleans. Whether it is him, Jameis Winston, or Taysom Hill, the defense has to be improved, and in Jaelan Phillips, they get an edge rusher that can improve that position group immediately, filling a huge hole.
