In a rather surprising move, the Green Bay Packers appear to be headed towards divorce with Corey Linsley.

Less than a month removed from almost making it to the Super Bowl (again), it appears as though the Packers are about to be dealt an even more devastating loss.

Aaron Jones has been the main subject of Packers free agency rumors, but now another massive piece of the offense could be playing somewhere else next season.

According to Packers beat writer Bill Huber, All-Pro center Corey Linsley is expected to hit the open market when free agency begins in a few weeks. Talks between Linsley and the Packers have reportedly gone nowhere and that’s not expected to chance over the next few weeks.

“The expectation is that Linsley will be playing elsewhere in 2021,” Huber reported. “The Packers will be looking to replace their starting center from the past seven seasons.”

Huber lists the Chargers, Dolphins, and Ravens as potential suitors for Linsley in free agency.

What is the Packers plan without Corey Linsley?

Nothing definitive has been decided, and there’s a chance the Packers bring their center back but it’s not going to be easy. Green Bay is currently $11.45 million over the cap, and have decisions to make all over its roster.

Losing Linsley would make an already complicated situation on the offensive line even murkier. David Bakhtiari is recovering from a torn ACL suffered before Week 17, and even though he restructured his massive new contract the Packers still need to look between the couch cushions to find money to make moves in free agency.

Nothing ever seems easy for the Packers, and this offseason seems to be more of the same when it comes to ensuring a Super Bowl contending roster remains in place around Aaron Rodgers.
