Lebron James’ son Bronny suffers torn meniscus
By Scott Rogust
Bronny James, son of LeBron James, suffered a torn meniscus in early February.
When it comes to high school basketball recruits, the one receiving the most hype is Sierra Canyon (Calif.) High School guard Bronny James, the oldest son of Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James. While his sophomore season has yet to officially take place due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, it might very well be over for the Class of 2023 recruit due to injury.
According to Tarek Fattal of the Los Angeles Daily News, James suffered a torn meniscus earlier this month. James underwent surgery to repair the injury, where he is expected to make a full recovery.
James himself said he tore his meniscus during a Twitch stream earlier this month, but did not provide details as to how it happened.
The injury, which reportedly took place in practice, is believed to be season-ending, but that is still up in the air with the state of California still not permitting indoor sports events due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. There is hope that they can have a spring season.
James is a top recruit in the 2023 class
James is a five-star recruit in the 2023 class, where he is ranked 25th in the nation and fifth amongst combo guards, according to 247Sports. So far, James has received offers from Duke, UCLA, North Carolina, Kentucky and Kansas.
Sierra Canyon has played as a club team known as the California Basketball Club during the pandemic, and their next scheduled game is on March 5 in Utah. James will obviously not be available to play.
In 34 games his freshman season, James averaged 4.1 points and 15 minutes.
