Demetric Felton. player. 44. Pick Analysis. Running back. UCLA. 99. Scouting Report

Todd Gurley is headed for free agency which could leave the Falcons with a gaping hole at running back. Even if he returns, Felton is a guy who could combine with him to become a lethal one-two punch for Atlanta.

The former UCLA star isn’t big enough to be an every-down back in the NFL. He’s a good runner of the ball when he gets a crease due to his above-average speed and wiggle, but Felton really makes his presence felt as a receiver out of the backfield.

His proficiency as a pass-catcher has him on some team’s boards as a slot guy. That’s a bit ambitious, but he clearly profiles as a top-notch receiver and route-runner from the running back position. Pairing him with a young quarterback to grow up with would be good roster-building by the Falcons.

Some might quibble with failing to get a guy capable of soaking up 200 carries at this point in the draft, but the Falcons should be looking for playmakers. Felton could turn into a young signal-callers best friend in short order.
