If we have learned anything about how the Chiefs operate on offense, it is that Veach doesn’t rebuild, he reloads at the skill positions.

We’ve seen the Chiefs’ Modus Operendi at running back — drafting Clyde Edwards-Helaire with Damien Williams on the roster and to replace LeSean McCoy — and this could be the offseason the Chiefs replace a veteran wide receiver with one of the highly touted prospects at the position in the NFL Draft.

Watkins has been a solid role player for the Chiefs, catching 89 passes for 1,094 yards and five touchdowns over the past two seasons, but with the emergence of Mecole Hardman the past two years and the strength of this year’s receiver class, this is a spot the Chiefs would love to upgrade.

Losing the Super Bowl takes Kansas City out of range of elite prospects such as LSU’s Ja’Marr Chase, Alabama’s Jaylen Waddle and DeVonte Smith, but there is still quality depth at receiver throughout this class, and the Chiefs will likely tap into it.

Possible NFL Draft targets: Amon-Ra St. Brown (USC), Terrace Marshall (LSU), Kadarius Toney (Florida), Dyami Brown (North Carolina)
