Butler struggled to be the big body in the middle Buffalo wanted him to be last season. It makes perfect sense for the Bills to try to find a cheaper, superior option towards the end of Round 2.

Grabbing Wilson at this juncture of the draft would represent another gamble for Buffalo. His 2019 tape was worthy of becoming a first round selection. His 2020 tape looked more like a prospect that would be lucky to hear his name called in the middle rounds.

The Bills coaching staff would need to believe he’s ready to bounce back to take him. He has all of the size and quickness required to become an outstanding interior pass-rusher at the next level. Wilson just needs to add a lot of consistency to his game if he wants to become a quality NFL starter.

There’s a chance Wilson’s questionable work ethic stops him from reaching his potential at the pro level, but the Bills are one franchise that is not afraid to gamble on talent. Landing a guy with Pro Bowl talent at the end of Round 2 is right on brand for Buffalo.
