Packers free agency, Tyrell Williams
CARSON, CA – DECEMBER 22: Wide receiver Tyrell Williams #16 of the Oakland Raiders runs for a first down before he is pushed out of bounds by cornerback Casey Hayward #26 of the Los Angeles Chargers in the first quarter of the game at Dignity Health Sports Park on December 22, 2019 in Carson, California. 2. Land Tyrell Williams in free agency

Any number of wide receiver additions could have provided more production and value for the Packers than Jones. An average annual salary of $12 million probably wasn’t going to be good enough to bring a superstar like Kenny Golladay to Green Bay, but it could have gotten them a quality No. 2 option with ease.

Williams could have been a really interesting roll of the dice by Matt LaFleur and his staff. He moved to Detroit on a one-year, $4.7 million deal after struggling to come back from injury with the Raiders. When healthy, he profiles as just the sort of big body the Packers need to stretch the field opposite Davante Adams.

Other receivers the Packers should have targeted include guys like Corey Davis and Curtis Samuel. The truth is that any number of wideouts could have been better signings for Green Bay than paying a significant premium to a running back.

The only good news here for Packers fans is that there’s still time to remedy their No. 2 wide receiver issue in free agency and/or the draft. It still goes down as a missed opportunity for Green Bay up until this point in the offseason.
