5 players Washington Football Team should draft in the first round
3. Kadarius Toney
Toney is another slot receiver who figures to go somewhere in the middle of Round 1. He might not have quite the elite upside that Moore possesses, but he has a much higher floor. The question Washington must consider is whether or not Toney stands a strong chance of falling all the way down to No. 19.
If he does take that sort of tumble, Washington should be his absolute floor. They desperately need a playmaker who can bother opposing defenses with the ball in his hands. Lining Toney up in the slot with McLaurin on the outside would cause real problems for NFC East secondaries in the future.
Turn on the tape of Toney at Florida and it’s easy to understand his appeal as a prospect. He’s downright electric when he gets the ball in his hands. He’s got excellent speed, but he also showed a unique ability to break tackles at the collegiate level.
Toney will need to be accounted for with multiple defenders every time he steps on the field in the NFL. That makes him a perfect choice for Washington in Round 1.
