It’s the end of an era, as the Philadelphia Eagles have announced they’ve released Alshon Jeffery and Malik Jackson.

As you might have been able to imagine, it’s already been a long offseason for the Philadelphia Eagles. Things started off with a bang when the team surprisingly changed course and decided to fire Doug Pederson as head coach. Now, fans will need to get used to a beloved player also no longer wearing Eagles colors.

On Wednesday, Philadelphia announced that they’ve released veteran wide receiver Alshon Jeffery. In addition, the team has also parted ways with defensive tackle Malik Jackson.

Alshon Jeffery will now be looking for a new home after the Eagles released him on Wednesday

As you can tell from the comments on the Eagles’ tweet, this is tough for the fans to accept. While it’s been expected for a while that Jeffery would be cut and that he didn’t have a long-term future with the squad, Philly nation always rooted for the guy and enjoyed him making spectacular grabs.

This was the case after Jeffery had a huge 2017 and helped the team pull off its unforgettable upset over Tom Brady and the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl. Now, Jeffery will hope to get his career back on track and stay healthy with a new organization.

As for Jackson, he just wrapped up his second campaign with the Eagles. In 2019, he was only able to appear in one game for the team. This past season, Jackson suited up for 15 games and made six starts, posting 28 tackles and 2.5 sacks. Similar to Jeffery, however, he was notified on Wednesday that he won’t be back with the team next season. The hunt for a new team now begins for the two veterans.
