Packers mock draft, Rashod Bateman

4. Rashod Bateman

The Packers should sprint to the podium to select Bateman if he’s still on the board at No. 29. He has the talent to feast working against No. 2 cornerbacks opposite Davante Adams in Green Bay.

Unfortunately for Green Bay, Bateman’s draft stock seems to be rising as scouts get more and more comfortable with his collegiate film. He dominated the competition at Minnesota. He went up against the opponents’ top-corner every week and still managed to put up big numbers every time he took the field.

Bateman’s top-notch route-running skills would make him one of Rodgers’ favorite targets. He shows an uncanny ability to create separation at the line of scrimmage via power or elusiveness. Any NFL corner that believes they can jam him is going to be sorely disappointed.

Bateman is the perfect pick for the Packers in Round 1, but the odds are stacked against him still being on the board at No. 29. If Green Bay wants to hit a home run with Bateman, they likely need to trade up to get him.
