NBA trade rumors: Nets exploring trades for injured Spencer Dinwiddie

The Brooklyn Nets are reportedly looking to trade injured guard Spencer Dinwiddie at the deadline.

The NBA trade deadline takes place this Thursday, and all teams are looking to either to bolster their teams ahead of the playoffs or for the future. The Brooklyn Nets made their big splash earlier this season when they acquired James Harden from the Houston Rockets in a massive four-team trade involving the Cleveland Cavaliers and Indiana Pacers. That, and the Nets signed forward Blake Griffin after his contract was bought out by the Detroit Pistons.

Apparently, the Nets are still looking to make a move ahead of or at the trade deadline.

According to Kevin O’Connor of the Ringer, the Nets are looking to trade guard Spencer Dinwiddie, as they look for a “defensive-oriented wing player.”

O’Connor brings up the defensive player target for a reason, as the Nets were exploring a trade for Houston Rockets forward P.J. Tucker. But the Nets lost out to the Milwaukee Bucks this past Friday, as they acquired Tucker and Rodions Kurucs in exchange for D.J. Augustin, D.J. Wilson and a 2023 second-round draft pick.

Even though Dinwiddie has been sidelined for the rest of this campaign due to his knee injury, the Nets do have suitors for his services. Shams Charania of The Athletic reports that the Toronto Raptors, Miami Heat and the Pistons have shown interest in acquiring Dinwiddie. Meanwhile, Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report names the Chicago Bulls, Pacers and Rockets as potential buyers for Dinwiddie.

The guard has played in just three games this regular-season before tearing his ACL on Dec. 27 against the Charlotte Hornets. Back in the 2019-20 season, Dinwiddie averaged 20.6 points, 6.8 assists and 3.5 assists while shooting 41.5-percent from the field and 33.5-percent from the three-point line.

Dinwiddie has more than a handful of teams interested in acquiring him, but will the Nets actually part ways with him? We will find out in the coming days before the clock strikes zero at the trade deadline.
