Eagles quarterback room just got elite with addition of Joe Flacco
The Philadelphia Eagles have added some depth to the quarterbacks room, with Howie Roseman going out and signing veteran signal-caller Joe Flacco.
The Philadelphia Eagles and Howie Roseman made it quite clear they would at some point this offseason bring in a new signal-caller to add to the competition and depth for Jalen Hurts. Well, they’ve done so on Tuesday by signing a veteran quarterback.
Folks, Joe Flacco is headed to the City of Brotherly Love, with his agency revealing the breaking news. For Flacco, he’ll now head to Philadelphia to push Hurts and seemingly serve as his backup.
Joe Flacco is all set to play for the Philadelphia Eagles next season
Flacco just wrapped up his 13th season in the NFL, suiting up for the Jets in 2020. Before that, he spent one year with the Broncos and 11 campaigns with the Baltimore Ravens, of course highlighted by winning the Super Bowl back in 2013 over the San Francisco 49ers.
Now, Flacco will keep his career going with the Eagles, a team that’s been quite busy this offseason at the position. The big news of course was that the organization traded former first-round pick Carson Wentz to the Indianapolis Colts. The writing was on the wall for Wentz, who was benched in favor of hurts late in 2020.
Hurts is looking to be in line to be the team’s starter come Week 1 this upcoming fall. The addition of Flacco certainly makes sense for multiple reasons. He’s got plenty of experience and can be asked to step in if something happens to Hurts.
Also, talk about someone who can help a young quarterback out. Flacco has seen it all and could serve as a great mentor to Hurts. This feels like a low-risk move for Roseman and the rest of the front office.
