Patriots news: Mac Jones wanted to impress Bill Belichick at Alabama Pro Day
Alabama quarterback Mac Jones was outstanding at his Pro Day and he was able to impress with Bill Belichick on hand to watch him do his thing.
While Trevor Lawrence, Justin Fields, Trey Lance and Zach Wilson are all getting the majority of quarterback headlines leading up to the NFL Draft, don’t forget about Alabama signal-caller Mac Jones.
The stud quarterback, who helped Alabama win yet another National Championship this winter, really put on a show at his Pro Day. Fortunately for him, several big NFL coaches were on hand, including Bill Belichick. If you ask Jones, he was ready to make sure the Patriots head coach noticed him.
Mac Jones had a great Pro Day on Tuesday and was ready to turn Bill Belichick’s head
With Jones continuing to fly up draft boards, it’s easy to see why so many teams are intrigued by him. He’s got a rocket for an arm and his decision-making on the field is second to none. With that said, could New England end up grabbing him?
With Cam Newton set to return as the team’s starter next season, Belichick will trust him to run the offense once again. However, Newton is not the long-term answer for New England. Jones could prove to be that guy. In order for that to happen, the Patriots likely would need to trade up in the draft. At this point, there’s probably no way he’d fall to them at No. 15 overall.
Belichick surely knows this, which could force him to get creative leading up to the first round. Jones clearly would love to suit up for him. Who wouldn’t want to play for the greatest NFL head coach of all time?! Only time will tell if that actually ends up happening.
