Just when the St. Louis Cardinals needed someone to deliver for them, of course legendary catcher Yadier Molina was ready to come up big for the club. In a showdown with the Miami Marlins, things were tied at 0-0 in the top of the seventh.
Well, Molina decided to change things in a big way. With a runner on first, Molina got a pitch right down the middle and he reminded the Marlins that he’s still got plenty left in the tank with a towering home run.
Yadier Molina’s two-run homer has given the Cardinals the lead over Miami
As soon as Molina made contact with the ball, Marlins starting pitcher Pablo Lopez realized he had made a monster mistake. Molina’s 2-run homer was a no-doubter, which Cardinals fans obviously loved to see.
This offseason, there were countless reports stating that Molina would potentially head elsewhere. However, St. Louis was able to get the job done and get him back to town. Wednesday’s dinger is a fresh reminder as to why that was such a smart decision.
