Chiefs bold predictions, Mecole Hardman

2. Mecole Hardman will catch 80+ passes

If Kelce is going to catch significantly fewer passes in 2021 then it’s obvious someone on the offense will need to pick up the slack. Hardman is the pass-catcher in line to get an increased workload this season.

The young speedster caught 41 balls for 560 yards and four touchdowns last season. Expect most of those totals to roughly double this year. His speed on the perimeter makes him an exciting potential safety blanket for Mahomes.

Tyreek Hill is still going to be the guy taking the top off of opposing secondaries. Kelce will still make his impact on deep seam routes. That leaves a ton of room for Hardman to roam on short and intermediate throws. His ability to produce yards after the catch is what gives him a chance to blossom into a star this season.

If Kansas City brings in another wide receiver in April’s draft it could derail this prediction, but Hardman is in a terrific spot on the current depth chart. Chiefs fans and fantasy football players should expect big things from him in 2021.
