St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Paul Goldschmidt reached another career milestone against the Washington Nationals.

It’s sure to be just another of many career milestone for Goldschmidt, who at just 33 years old is still in the prime of his MLB life. On Tuesday, Goldschmidt notched home run No. 250, and off one of the best pitchers of his era in Stephen Strasburg.

Goldschmidt hit most of those home runs with the Arizona Diamondbacks, as he was traded to St. Louis before the start of the 2020 season. In December of 2019, Arizona acquired catcher Carson Kelly, pitcher Luke Weaver and minor league infielder Andy Young for their perennial All-Star.

In St. Louis, Goldschmidt has formed an All-Star corner infield pairing with Nolan Arenado

Acquiring Arenado this offseason gives Goldschmidt perhaps his best chance to date to win a World Series, which is his ultimate goal. Arenado has gotten off to a good start in St. Louis, hitting .300 with two home runs and five RBIs.

It remains to be seen if his power bat will transition well to Busch Stadium, but nonetheless Arenado is an elite defender and a key contributor in the middle of the Cardinals lineup.

Next. 1 trade the St. Louis Cardinals should already be considering. dark
