player. 42. Scouting Report. Tulane. EDGE. Cameron Sample . 117. Pick Analysis

One can never have too much of a pass rush. The 49ers are hopeful that Dee Ford can return to semi-star form and Nick Bosa is fully recovered from his torn ACL. Sample can be used in a multitude of ways, including primarily stopping the run. As a defensive end, his first step allows him to make plays in single-man sets and pressure quarterbacks into throwing plays away before taking the hit.

155. player. 42. Scouting Report. Auburn. Anthony Schwartz. Pick Analysis. WR

Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk should be the top two names to watch for out west thanks to size and route-running. Outside of them, any receiver could be up for termination or a downgrade on the depth chart.

Ford is another track star turn football player with a knack for finding yards in space. An overall clean route-runner, the Auburn product is smaller-framed, yet can win over the top against most defenses. Shanahan loves his speed guys and Schwartz is another one of them.

Chuba Hubbard . 172. 42. Pick Analysis. Oklahoma State. player. Scouting Report. RB

Part of the reason why San Francisco was able to make Super Bowl LIV was due to their run game. They now will need to replace the production of Tevin Coleman and hope injuries don’t derail them. Hubbard has good vision and home-run threat potential out of the backfield when looking down the sideline. He set a record with the Cowboys in 2019 and proved he can change speed at each level of the defense when on the field.

Paris Ford. 180. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. S. 42. Pittsburgh

Jimmie Ward enters a potential out in his three-year extension after the season. Should San Francisco look to go cheaper, they could start trying to find his replacement. Ford is a ball-hawking safety with cover skills that best suit him playing deep. Excellent in reading the quarterback’s eyes, the former Panther loves to bait throws his way before pouncing for the strike.
