Pick Analysis. CB. 123. Scouting Report. Dallas Cowboys. Trevon Diggs. 2. player

Jerry Jones was able to help two causes in the first two rounds of the 2020 NFL Draft. CeeDee Lamb fell to pick 17, and then the front office nabbed cornerback Trevon Diggs in the second round at pick 51.

Diggs, the brother of Buffalo Bills’ standout receiver Stefon Diggs, generated buzz coming out of Alabama. Even though he was not selected until the second round, it seemed coaches and scouts had high expectations for the defensive back.

During his rookie year, Diggs had the typical rookie experience. Humbling mistakes that both welcome you to the NFL and leave you better off from having those shortcomings, followed by strong play as he progressed.

In 12 games, Diggs had three interceptions and one sack. He was targeted 84 times, which was ranked 31st in the league according to Pro Football Reference. Of those 84 targets, he only allowed 46 completions (54.8 percent). He also allowed 667 receiving yards on completions (23rd most) and five scores.

On the surface, it felt like most of the damage done on Diggs was earlier in the season. In his defense, the whole team was not spectacular defensively.

Now playing for Dan Quinn, Diggs can develop much more and he will have to now that he projects as the team’s number-one corner heading into the year.

With that rookie year behind him, a sense of renewal playing for a new coordinator, and with things pointing up in Dallas with Prescott back, Diggs may find his second season much more successful than his first.
