1. First baseman Mitch Moreland

We’re sorry to do this to you, Cubs fans, but we can’t just leave it out. Of all the guys who might leave town next offseason, stud first baseman Anthony Rizzo has got to be the toughest to think about. Look up “fan favorite” in the dictionary and his face will surely pop up for the Chicago faithful.

The images of him putting the baseball in his back pocket after winning the World Series in 2016 is something no one in the city will ever forget. He’s meant so much to Chicago and the club ever since he first arrived.

With that being said, a replacement will be needed if Rizzo heads to a new city. Mitch Moreland could fill in nicely. The veteran first baseman has bounced around a little bit in recent seasons, but he’s still been showcasing plenty of power. He’s got two home runs thus far in 2021, with a .263 average and eight RBI for the Oakland Athletics.

Next. Javier Baez is creating a massive headache for the Cubs front office. dark
