4. Ezekiel Elliott rushes for 1,500 yards

This prediction definitely is not classified under the “boldest predictions” category. Though, it is still bold considering Ezekiel Elliott had the worst statistical season of his career in 2020, and he has not eclipsed 1,500+ rushing yards since his rookie campaign (1,631 yards in 2016).

A lot of Elliott’s shortcomings last year were not entirely his fault. Dak Prescott going down and the offensive line installing new faces and trying to work through injuries played a large part in Elliott’s production. Without Prescott, teams focused primarily on taking Elliott away and making Andy Dalton, and others beat them.

Prescott will return in 2021, and that is a massive sign for Elliott. The offensive line may still be in a time of transition, but the former All-Pro and Pro Bowl running back should still be able to find those holes and make bursts for big gains.

Elliott still seems to be one of, if not the, best true runners in the league. He always seems to find the correct crease, get pad level and fall forward for gains. He is not necessarily an explosive back, but he can rip off big gains after picking up those incremental yards and wearing down opponents.

We have seen how important Elliott and the running game have been for Prescott and the rest of the offense. Establishing the run allows them to work in the air, specifically off play action. Elliott is also almost a sure thing in the red zone.

More normalcy should allow Elliott to be as effective as he was as a rookie and in 2018/2019.
