No. 8 and 7

. (14-9). Previous: 2nd. Boston Red Sox. 8. team. 14

When the Boston Red Sox win, they win by a big margin and go into next week with the second-best run differential of any team in the American League. The Red Sox currently stand in first place in what should be a very tough AL East, and are once again getting a monster season from designated hitter J.D. Martinez.

Martinez leads the Red Sox in home runs, batting average, and runs batted in, and after a season-opening sweep at home against Baltimore, the Red Sox have gone 13-6. They have a nine-game win streak to their credit and will need to continue to play solid baseball, as the Yankees and Rays are right on their heels.

(13-11). Previous: 9th. San Diego Padres. 7. team. 127.

Fernando Tatis Jr. is all that is right about the game of baseball, as he plays it with passion, and is the kind of player the league can really do some marketing around. This past week, he dominated against their division rival, Los Angeles Dodgers, and despite missing nine games this season, he already has six home runs in only 14 appearances.

While Tatis is dominating at the dish, the starting rotation has been terrific, as all five regular starters have posted earned run averages under 4.00 this season. The Padres are currently four games back in the division and may end up winning 100 games and settling for a Wild Card, but they have enough talent to beat anybody on any given night.
