By drafting Terrace Marshall Jr. out of LSU, Aaron Rodgers will get some help!

While selecting offensive linemen like Jalen Mayfield out of Michigan or a defensive lineman like Christian Barmore out of Alabama could be a smart move, what most Packers fans are hoping for is adding a wide receiver with the No. 29 overall pick. Though they will have a ton to sort through towards the end of the first round, here is why LSU’s Terrace Marshall Jr. has to be the selection.

Marshall is not a top-three wide receiver in the draft but could be coming off the board a few picks before the Packers are on the clock in the early-to-mid-20s. Though other receivers such as Florida’s Kadarius Toney, Minnesota’s Rashod Bateman, Ole Miss’ Elijah Moore and Purdue’s Rondale Moore may be available at No. 29, Marshall is the ideal No. 2 wide receiver for Green Bay.

The Packers already have a perennial Pro Bowler in Davante Adams in the receiving corps. Though they have other talent receivers for Rodgers to rifle the ball to, Marshall has both high-end upsides, as well as high-end productivity. He played in the same LSU receiving corps that prominently featured Minnesota Vikings’ first-round pick Justin Jefferson and first-round lock Ja’Marr Chase.

Marshall has NFL pedigree, as his late relative Joe Delaney is a Kansas City Chiefs legend. By taking Marshall at No. 29, the Packers would be getting the perfect complementary wide receiver to Adams. This is how to get the most out of Rodgers in this offense. The best part is Green Bay would not be reaching for a wide receiver here, as Marshall’s ADP is probably a few slots higher.

Overall, Green Bay can really do no wrong with their No. 29 overall pick. The Packers’ brass got raked over the coals this time a year ago for reaching on Love out of Utah State. Since there is no chance they would do the same thing again by reaching for a quarterback, literally anything the Packers do with this pick, including trading it to someone else, will be seen as a huge win for them.

What should the Packers do with the No. 29 overall pick in Thursday night’s 2021 NFL Draft?
