1. James Hudson

Hudson may not play a single snap for the Browns during his rookie season. He still has a chance to become the unquestioned star of this draft class. Landing a potential starter at left tackle in Round 4 is a big potential win for Cleveland.

The former Cincinnati star isn’t ready for serious NFL snaps. He’s a raw prospect that needs significant coaching at the next level before he’s playable as a pro. He still has all of the physical tools NFL scouts look for in a top-notch blindside protector.

Cleveland is blessed with a pair of top-quality tackles with Jedrick Wills and Jack Conklin. That gives the Browns coaching staff plenty of time to work with Hudson before he’s thrust into the limelight. It’s an ideal landing spot for a player with tons of potential who needs serious skill refinement.

Some teams might have needed a tackle drafted in Round 4 to play right away. Hudson would have been a bad pick for those teams. The patience the Browns can exercise in his development makes it a home run selection for Cleveland. Don’t be surprised if Hudson emerges as a high-level starter at tackle for the Browns before his rookie contract expires.
