1. Making Kelvin Joseph the top CB pick

Kelvin Joseph is young and did not have a ton of experience in college. He began his career at LSU in 2018 and transferred to Kentucky, which forced him to miss the 2019 season.

He did have a nice 2020, but still only appeared in nine games with the Wildcats. This makes the 20-year-old quite the raw prospect.

The Cowboys just missed out on landing either Jaycee Horn or Patrick Surtain II. That is what led the team to trade back in the first place. But the need at corner was still there and Dallas made Joseph their top pick at the position. Someone with more experience like Asante Samuel Jr. may have been a better option.

Joseph also has noted off-the-field concerns including a suspension at LSU that resulted in him transferring to Kentucky. To be fair, he was still a teenager at the time.

This could all end up working out for Dallas. It is just a bit suspect that the team went from liking the top two corners, only to wait so long on actually grabbing a player at the position.
