2. Taking EDGE Joshua Kaindoh in the fourth round

While defensive end was an area Kansas City wanted to shore up for the 2021 season, was Florida State’s Joshua Kaindoh really the most logical pick to be made in the fourth round? Don’t get us wrong, Kaindoh is quite the specimen, as the former Seminoles defender checks in at 6-foot-6, 260 pounds.

With that said, his stats were less than head-turning last season. In 2020, Kaindoh made seven starts for Florida State and recorded 14 total tackles and no sacks. Seriously? In his four years with Florida State, Kaindoh only managed to sack opposing quarterbacks eight times, averaging two per campaign.

That’s nothing to write home about. The job of a pass-rusher is to instill fear in opposing linemen and do their best to bring down signal-callers. Kaindoh wasn’t able to do that with consistency in the ACC. Can we really expect him to take things to the next level going up against tough competition in the AFC West?

Kaindoh definitely felt like a reach here. A player like Notre Dame’s Daelin Hayes could have been a much better fit, as he recorded three sacks last year and fell to the fifth round. It might be tough to compare the two, but regardless, it just feels like the Chiefs could have done much better than going with Kaindoh.
