1. Madison Bumgarner

In 2019, MadBum was in the final year of his contract with the San Francisco Giants, and the Braves were reportedly eyeing him then. After all, the left-hander hails from North Carolina and grew up cheering for the Braves. Bringing Bumgarner into their rotation would not only add veteran years of experience, but also give Atlanta an arm to rely on.

Bumgarner can pound strike zones in late innings with little to no error, making even the smallest leads feel insurmountable to demoralized opponents. Prior to joining the Arizona Diamondbacks, Bumgarner has never had an ERA over 3.90 in a single season. He’s had his share of hot streaks with Arizona, but he may want to look elsewhere to continue his illustrious career. Braves fans will remember his unofficial no-hitter last month when, in the second leg of a doubleheader against Atlanta, MadBum allowed no hits in seven innings. He didn’t walk a batter, struck out seven and later won the game, 5-0.

The Braves could use his flashes of grizzled brilliance to round out their young and green squad, and even with Ynoa’s recent heroics, Bumgarner should be one pitcher the Atlanta Braves keep trying to sign to help out their depleted rotation now and for the future.
