2. Dallas Cowboys

It’s no mystery that the Dallas Cowboys need a transformation on defense to compete in 2021. That 2020 defense allowed the most points in franchise history (473) and surrendered the second-most total yards in team history (6,183). America’s Team was definitely aggressive in addressing the defensive side of the ball in the 2021 NFL Draft. Of the team’s 11 draft picks, the front office selected eight players on defense including three defensive backs. They should, too, toss in a veteran talent like Richard Sherman.

The Cowboys are coming into 2021 with the second easiest schedule. That, paired with the fact it only took seven wins for the Washington Football Team to win the 2020 NFC East division, the Cowboys are in the running for a playoff bid in 2021; and with Dak Prescott back in the fold, the offense should hold their end of the bargain. Of course, they need a defense to make timely stops. Sherman is a ballhawk and an intelligent defensive mind that the Cowboys defense could rally behind. In the process, he could serve as a mentor to the fellow corners on the roster.

In terms of leadership and showing the young guys the ropes, Sherman could be a source for the team’s first round draft choice linebacker Micah Parsons. The Cowboys are hoping he can be a talent that will one day be the face of the Cowboys defense.

Say all the dominos fall in the right places, Cowboys would be in prime position to win the NFC East. Once a team is in the playoffs anything can happen, so it’s important to have strong leadership and veterans to help guide the team in those big games. Who better to do so than Sherman, who definitely knows a thing or two about playing on the grandest stage the NFL has to offer.
