Fernando Tatis, Jr. channels Simone Biles with incredible full split on slide (Video)

Fernando Tatis, Jr. is ready for Tokyo, showcasing his flexibility as a potential gymnast at second base on a slide attempt.
Tatis, Jr. made his return to the lineup on Wednesday, and this probably isn’t what the San Diego Padres had in mind. Nonetheless, Tatis, Jr. only knows one speed, and he isn’t about to change course due to injury.
The 22-year-old went head first into second base, dodging a tag from the Rockies. Yet, he over-slid the bag, and was forced to hold on for dear life.

Trevor Story was ready to apply the tag, but he didn’t take Tatis’ flexibility into account.
Tatis, Jr. had been placed on the injured list thanks to a positive COVID-19 test, so it’s not like he suffered some sort of physical ailment. Still, doesn’t this guy know how to take things slow?
Padres activate Fernando Tatis, Jr. and Eric Hosmer from IL
Tatis and Hosmer were just two of several Padres players who tested positive or went through contact tracing due to the team outbreak. Jurickson Profar and Jorge Mateo were also placed into contact tracing last week, but activated on Monday. Jayce Tingler hopes Wil Myers can be activated as soon as next Monday.
Impressively enough, the Padres went 7-1 without three of their best players in Tatis, Myers and Hosmer, including a sweep of the St. Louis Cardinals over the weekend. It speaks to the depth of this Padres team which, when tested, can perform well against top National League competition even when they’re not at full strength.
